Choosing the Right Camping Tents
It doesn't take a genius to know what a tent is intended to do. It protects you from the elements (sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.) while you spend time communing with nature and enjoying the outdoors. It can also keep you safe from mosquitoes, flies and other annoying pests as well as serve as a safe storage location for your camping gear when it isn't in use.
As you might well imagine there is a huge array of tents on the market today, so many so that even the experienced camper can easily become confused as to which they should choose. You need not worry about anyone else - the right camping tent for you may not be right for another, and that is perfectly alright!
Here are a few things to consider when choosing the right camping tent for you:
1. Budget
How much money do you realistically have to spend on this camping trip? If you are - or plan to be - a regular camper you should invest in a slightly higher quality tent than someone who only intends to camp once in a great while. The amount of money you are willing to spend can greatly affect the type of tent that is available to you, but you should not immediately feel defeated if your initial visit to the store doesn't yield an acceptable result. The Internet is huge, and there are thousands of companies competing for your business. Remember that.
2. What kind of camper are you?
Are you planning to camp on your own or with others? Not only is this an important consideration, but you also need to take into account what sort of camping trip you envision. For instance if you want to go on a hiking trip where you can stop and set up camp when and where you like, you should opt for a tent that will be compact and lightweight enough to be portable in your backpack.
If, on the other hand, you are planning to take a family vacation, you will need a larger tent that will fit into your car trunk but may not be well suited to carrying for long distances.
3. When are you planning to camp?
The requirements will be different for your tent based on what time of year you plan to camp. Hot, wet weather needs certain things and cold, wintry weather needs other things, so you need to choose your tent according to the location and time of year in which you are planning to camp.
So long as you carefully consider the variables before selecting a tent, you will have no trouble finding the right tent for your needs.
